The Effect of Statistical Fluctuations on the Measurement of the Total Energy and Multiplicity of y Rays Following Deep-Inelastic Reactions

Abstract

We discuss the effect of statistical fluctuations on the first an d second moments o f both the intrinsic rotation al energy and the sum of spin magnitudes in deep-inelastic fragments, as extractad from measurements of the total y-ray energy and the y-ray multiplicity, respectively. The calculations were done in the frame work of a model that considers the therm al excitation of rotational modes in the intermedíate dinuclear complex, accounting exactly for the correlations between the angular momen ta generated in both nuclei.

Discutimos el efecto de las fluctuaciones estadísticas en el primer y segundo momento de ambos la energía rotacional intrínseca y la suma de las magnitudes de espín en fragmentos profundamente inelásticos mentos, como se extrae de las mediciones de la energía total de rayos y y la multi-rayos y plicidad, respectivamente. Los cálculos se realizaron en el marco de trabajo de un modelo que considera la excitación térmica de modos rotacionales en el dinuclear intermedio complejo, teniendo en cuenta exactamente las correlaciones entre el momento angular que genera en ambos núcleos.
