Effect of temperature gradients on the diffusion of thermnal neutrons

Abstract

El efecto del gradiente térmico sobre la difusión de neutrones térmicos en medios sólidos se ha obtenido asumiendo i) dispersión clásica de neutrones por núcleos ii) función de distribución particular para la velocidad de los núcleos. Se obtiene una corrección, lineal en grado T. No se han tenido en cuenta los efectos cuánticos. Por lo tanto, cuanto mejor sea la concordancia de la ley de dispersión utilizada con la actual, mejores serán los resultados obtenidos.The effect of thermal gradiente on the diffusion of thermal neutrons in solid media has been obtained, assumiug i) classical scattering of neutrons by nuclei ii) particular distribution function for tha velocity of nuclei. A correction, linear in grad T, is obtained. Quantum effects have not be en taken into account. Thus the better the agreement of the used scattering law with the actual one, the better the obtailled results will hold.
