Isospin dependence of the nuclear optical potential

Abstract

The isospin-dependent term in the optical-model potential has been investigated by comparing results obtained from simultaneous fitting of neutrón and proton elastic scattering data from 59 Co and 209 Bi at an energy approximately equal to 14.4 MeV. The coefficient of the nuclear symmetry parameter term is equal to 23.8 ± 3 MeV if the fits were obtained by keeping fixed the imaginary part of the potential. If this part is allowed to vary and only the best fits are taken into consideration C = 22.8 ± 4 MeV.

El término dependiente del isospín en el potencial del modelo óptico se ha investigado comparando los resultados obtenidos del ajuste simultáneo de datos de dispersión elástica de neutrón y protón de 59 Co y 209 Bi a una energía aproximadamente igual a 14,4 MeV. El coeficiente del término del parámetro de simetría nuclear es igual a 23,8 ± 3 MeV si los ajustes se obtienen manteniendo fija la parte imaginaria del potencial. Si se permite que esta parte varíe y solo se toman en consideración los mejores ajustes C = 22,8 ± 4 MeV.
