Numerical aspects of the study of the regional thermal impact of aradioactive waste repository

Abstract

Numerical results are obtained for the regional thermal history of a radioactive waste repository. For such purpose, an alternating direction implicit method has been used, with special treatment of singularities in heat generation, with a variable grid calculation. The results obtained are in accordance with previous results in calibration cases. These results show that the technique developed constitutes a valuable tool for the handling of problems as the one under consideration. Its applications es exemplified by means of a case with a typical geometrical configuration and thermal load.
