Electronically driven instabilities of La 2-x Mx-Cu04

Abstract

We study the electronic structure and magnetic and structural instabilities of La 2-x Mx-Cu 04-y (M=Sr, Ba) using a tight-binding model and the electron-phonon interaction derived from it. We include both eg orbitals of Cu atoms and the p orbitals of both unequivalent 0 atoms.
