Suggested types of reprocessing plant for power reactor fuel elements, in Argentine

Abstract

There is, in the writer's opinion, scope for the building of a reprocessing plant of small size which avoids many of the above faults but is still based upon the well-known TBP (or possibly bubesc) extraction technology. The object of the present report is to suggest ways in thich this might be done so that Argentina might be provided uith the cheapest small scale reprocessing plant in the world. Only more detailed development of these ideas and accurate costing of the resulting designs could decide whether, in fact, such a plant could be reduced in cost sufficiently to be competitive with the larger plants of other countries.
