Resumen

Distortion is the change in shape of a welded component which results from the welding operation. This change in shape may only be temporary but is more often permanent. The principal course of distortion is the physical law of expansion and contraction. Generally the metal being welded is differentially heated i.e. heating is not uniform. The metal is subjected to steep temperature gradients and as it is heated it becomes weaker and more easily doformed in these parts which are the hottest.
