These notes are largely based on the book "Electron Microscpy of Thin Crystals" by P. B. Hirsch, A, Howie, R. B. Nicholson, D. W. Pashley, and M. J. Whelan, published by Butterworths at 1965. Any serious student of the subject, or indeed any user of electron microscopy is urged to have access to this book. These notes are not meant to be self-explanatory; they are intended to complement the lectures.
