Resumen

The critical resolved shear stress for the transformation from martensite to fcc has been measured for ternary CuZnAl alloys. It is shown that the energy difference between the disordered fcc a phase solid solution and the ordered mar tensite at the same composition is the sum of an order contribution from fourth nearest neighbor pairs and of a term which is determined by the a phase stacking fault energy. Implications on martensitic transformations are discussed.
