Radiological protection criteria for redioactive waste repsitories

Abstract

This paper explores the possibility of extending the use of the “system of doce limitation” to the desing and safety evaluation of repositories for high level radioactive waste. Individual doce limitation and optimization of protection cannot be directly used for judging the safety leve lof systems intended either to prevent or to limit potential future exposures. Nevertheless, it appears that the basic principles can conceptually be extended to the limitation of such uncertain exposures.
