dc.description.abstractThe experimental methods now in use for identification o f short-lived species can not be adapted for use in the shorter time range (10" 7-10-8 sec) necessary for observation of short-lived excited molecules. In order to achieve a spectroscopic analysis in this time range, the light pulses must be shortened by several orders of magnitude.
