dc.description.abstractA model for pit iniciation and pit propagation is proposed. The model was applied to aluminum, chromium, cobalt, iron, nickel, and zinc. The following conclusions were reached: The necessary acidification for pit iniciation can be obtained even for pits as small as 20 A°.
