Resumen
The cold target recoil-ion momentum spectroscopy (COLTRIMS) technique has settled in recent years as a very valuable tool to perform kinematically complete experiments. As a result, several laboratories worldwide have implemented COLTRIMS devices during the last decade. In this work, we provide a survey over the fundamental concepts of this technique and focus on how it allows one to perform state-selective electron capture studies. Results for the reaction 3He2+ +He explored at the Atomic Collisions Laboratory in Bariloche are shown and discussed. The energy range considered is that corresponding to our Kevatron accelerator (40–300 keV). We find this energy range to fit just between those previously explored at the University of Lanzhou and University of Frankfurt laboratories. The present experimental results are found to be in agreement with classical trajectory Monte Carlo simulations.
