In this work, the general aspects of a model developed to predict changes in the porosity of fuel pellets (densification) due to thermal and irradiation effects are presented. The model takes into account the flow of point defects to and from the pores. Likewise, it allows simulating fuel characterization tests without irradiation. The behavior of the model was analyzed by comparing its results with experimental measures available in the open literature, finding a satisfactory agreement. The densification model was included in the DIONISIO fuel code, with which thermal annealing simulations and experiments under irradiation were carried out, reaching a good agreement between the results provided by the numerical calculation and the experimental data.
