Resumen
A review is made of the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) problem, stressing the fact that the problem is stiII unsolved in spite of the great amount of work done. A comparison with sister disciplines, such as metallurgy, mechanics and electrochemistry shows that all of them are of very recent development, and contemporary to the SCC problem.
